Since 1975, contemporary art at the Moody Gallery has featured works by a variety of American artists.
It emphasizes those who live and work in Texas, and many have been recognized on a national level.
Based in Fort Worth, Helen Altman earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas, Denton in 1989. Many of her works use commonplace materials and objects. Also, some of Helen’s pieces are found in the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Secondly, Gael Stack is one of the most accomplished contemporary painters in the United States. Her works have been exhibited to critical acclaim both nationally and internationally. And she frequently uses fragments of words and images layered over one another. When Gael isn’t hard at work in her studio, she enjoys traveling across the globe, visiting local art museums.
Next, Sarah Williams’s landscape paintings present a uniquely focused view of the world. She grew up in a small town and believes that art should originate through a painter’s personal experiences. Sarah’s works create scenes charismatic in their mood, setting, and sense of impending drama, and she holds an MFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of North Texas, Denton.
Born in Missouri, Tracye Wear spent part of her childhood in Ohio where she earned a degree in art from Kent State University. She combines her interests in Cubist and early 20th-century sculpture with the natural forms found in her garden. Not to mention, her pieces are a perfect addition to any home.
