Spring has officially arrived and Houston will be teeming with fun festivals to celebrate our city’s unique heritage. Here’s a look at three upcoming festivals in downtown Houston this April.
Japan Festival Houston
Firstly, on April 13th and 14th, join Houston’s Japanese community at Hermann Park for the 26th annual Japan Festival. There will be various displays of traditional and contemporary music, dances, martial arts, food, tea ceremonies, origami, and much more.
Vendors like Kyoto Gifts, Domo Daruma, and Yurika Antiques will be offering Japanese goods while various musicians and performers grace the Matsuri Main Stage. Admission to the event is free and open to all ages!
Houston Latin Fest
Come out and help support the local Latin community through music, dance, food, and great company. You may purchase a general admission ticket for $10 at the link above or at the gate. All ages welcome.
H-Town Barbecue Bonanza
Finally, on April 28th is the H-Town Barbecue Bonanza at the Navigation Esplanade in collaboration with the Harris County General Store Barbecue Company. This celebration features “only the best pitmasters” in Houston, along with cold beer, margaritas, and live music.
Admission is free, but registration and tickets are required. You may also purchase a VIP Tasting Tent Ticket (21+) which includes access to samples, a private bar, and restrooms from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
