The World-Famous Continental Club is the Perfect Place to Chill

Located in the midst of one of Houston’s most vibrant communities, Melia Medical Center is a one-of-a-kind apartment home offering luxurious respite from hectic city life. When you are in the mood to hit the nightlife scene, downtown Houston offers a plethora of fun and unique places to check out. One sweet spot you may want to spend some serious chill time at is the landmark Continental Club located on Maine Street.

About the Continental Club

The flashing neon sign above the marquee entrance announces this gem of the city. This world-famous live music venue has been pumping vitality into the heart of the Houston music scene since 2000. It specializes in a broad menu of tunes from classic soul to rockabilly. Also, it hosts everything from local indie artists to rock cover bands.

Besides a flow of fresh tunes, the Continental Club also pours a $3 Lone Star Tallboy along with Houston craft beer and mixed drinks. The casual venue stages the area’s best musicians with a 300-person space overflowing to an expansive back patio. This connects to its sister-bar, Shoeshine Charley’s Big Top Lounge. There, you can find other food and drink options as well as local DJs and bands. Get there early to snag the best view!

The Continental Club’s Austin Roots

The original Continental Club is located in Austin, the Grand Central Station of rock-and-roll in Texas and beyond. The historic swank and exclusive live music club opened in 1955. Roots, rockabilly, country, swing, blues, and rock flow through its doors every night of the week. Now, Houston’s Continental offers the same in Midtown on Main. Simply stated, it’s the best place in Texas for live music and entertainment.

Contributions to Rebuilding Midtown

In the late 1990s, Houston’s midtown was the slow part of town that didn’t get many visitors. Today, it has transformed into a vibrant community bustling with swinging small businesses, a new performing arts center, and expanding residential towers. The Continental Club was the first to move in. Leading the revitalization of the area, the music venue is more than a nightclub, its historic building is the center of the midtown community and an integral partner in making midtown an awesome quarter of the city.

Upcoming Shows and Schedule

Are you ready to hang at Houston’s best nightclub and groove out to some fantastic live tunes? A full listing of scheduled performers, dates, and times can be found at the Continental Club’s Music Calendar. Tickets are available at the window the day of the show, but advanced tickets can be purchased at Sig’s Lagoon, a local record store located right around the corner.
