Student-Friendly Restaurants in Houston

So, you’re in college, and despite what Hollywood might think, you’re not exactly flush with cash. Don’t let this get you down. You can still have a good time in Houston, regardless of your limited funds! Here are some of our favorite student-friendly restaurants to get some high-grade, budget-friendly food.

Torchy’s Tacos

If you’re in the mood for delicious yet affordable tacos, look no further than Torchy’s! They expand on the traditional styles of tacos here. The folks at Torchy’s offer everything from a Baja Shrimp taco to a vegetarian-friendly Fried Avocado taco, as well as breakfast tacos, side dishes, burritos, desserts, and rapturously magnificent queso.

Some locations also offer alcoholic beverages, but please remember to drink responsibly and get a designated driver. Whether you’re looking for queso, a burrito, or just some tasty tacos, make sure to try out Torchy’s!

Hughie’s Tavern and Vietnamese Grille

In the mood for classic Vietnamese cuisine, but also have a yen for good ol’ American food? Hughie’s has got you covered! Founded by a family of refugees from Vietnam in the 1980s, they are committed to providing a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food to anyone who walks through the doors. In their words, “It’s the least we can do for a community that has done nothing but welcome us into their family for over 30 years.”

Their menu includes traditional Vietnamese dishes such as banh mi and spring rolls, as well as more American offerings, such as country-fried steak and cheeseburgers. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the story behind it all is full of love—what’s not to like?

Bombay Pizza

If you can’t decide whether your favorite food is Indian food or pizza, then we’ve got the place for you! Bombay Pizza offers a unique selection of classic Indian cuisine and American-style pizzas, as well as sides, appetizers, and desserts! They have curry every weekday and a wide variety of Kati rolls for those in the mood for more traditional Indian dishes.

They also serve burgers, fries, and the eponymous pizza for those with a hankering for all-American comfort food. Be sure to stop on by and try it for yourself!
